iPod shuffle Rip-offs Storm China

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but manufacturing fake iPods goes a bit too far. Apple and other digital music players are suffering from fake knock-off versions of their music players flooding the market in China, according to DigiTimes. The iPod shuffle has been copied nearly since its introduction, and sales of unauthorized models continue to rise with the iPod’s popularity.
Although the products are made with disregard for intellectual property rights, patents, and licensing, there seems to be little Apple and other MP3 player manufacturers can do to stop the problem.
Fake iPods are proving to be very popular in China, often selling for about half the price of the real thing. Some are even showing up on China’s local shopping channels.
