iPods in the News
Sunday, March 5th, 2006 at 2:00 PM - by Brad Cook
A jogger who was struck by a car and left unconscious was identified, thanks to police who took her iPod to a local Apple Store. According to PC Pro, the company was able to provide her name based on the MP3 player's serial number.
Meanwhile, Pope Benedict XVI received an engraved 2GB iPod nano when he visited the Vatican Radio headquarters. The Register said that the MP3 player was preloaded with classical music as well as sound clips covering the creation of Vatican Radio by Pope Pius XI and Marconi's invention of the radio. The back of the iPod says "To His Holiness, Benedict XVI" in Italian.
Assuming the Pope is able to use his gift, he will be ahead of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who confessed that, while he owns an iPod: "My daughter [Kathryn] does all the songs, I'm not very good with the technology, I'm not very good with any aspect of it." The Register noted that Christina Aguilera is among the artists on it.
