iTunes Adds NASCAR Free Preview

Apple Computer has reached a deal with NASCAR, the car racing association, that brings NASCAR content to iTunes. Apple was first reported to be in talks with NASCAR in January of 2006. The company sent out a notice Thursday to people signed up to the iTunes newsletter announcing the addition of NASCAR content, including a free preview for the Daytona 500 race.

NASCAR has grown in popularity in recent years, prompting the growth of "NASCAR Dads" as a political demographic important to political candidates. This contrasts with "Soccer Moms," a demographic considered important in the 1990s.

The description of the preview on iTunes ends with, "From Memory Lane to Victory Lane, 'NASCAR Daytona 500 Preview' takes you inside the world of NASCAR and the Daytona 500 in a way that's never before been experienced."

We should also note that this is one of the largest video content deals announced outside of the major networks since Apple first added such content to the iTunes Music Store.
