iPhone Dev Team Announce Yellowsn0w iPhone 3G Unlock

The iPhone Dev Team, a group of hackers dedicated to the iPhone, announced Tuesday Yellowsn0w, a hack to unlock the iPhone 3G the group plans on releasing New Years Eve of 2008. The group said in a blog post that it is ready to go, and, "currently being packaged into a user-friendly application with the simplicity that you see in QuickPwn or BootNeuter."
The iPhone 3G has been more difficult to unlock than the first generation iPhone, and even still there are some limitation on which version of the iPhone 3G Yellowsn0w will unlock. The group said that it would be limited to iPhone 3G units with 2.11.07 baseband or earlier (for notes on checking your baseband version, visit the blog post).
In related news, the iPhone Dev Team offered some tips in the same blog post for those experiencing problems with unlocked iPhones and Mac OS X 10.5.6, which was released Monday.
