Konami on Wednesday brought its popular Metal Gear Solid series to the iPhone with the debut of a title dubbed Metal Gear Solid Touch. Based on the Metal Gear Solid 4 storyline, the game features the exploits of Old Snake and Solid Snake as they join forces to defeat Liquid Ocelot, who runs the private military companies (PMCs) that now manage warfare around the globe.
Metal Gear Solid Touch (US$7.99) offers 20 levels of battles against not only the PMCs but also Haven Troopers, Gekko, and B&B Corps. The action takes place in the Middle East, South America, and Eastern Europe, with a variety of short- and long-range weapons at players' disposal. Drebin Points earned during the game can be spent on exclusive Metal Gear Solid Touch wallpapers.
Wednesday also saw the release of Digital Chocolate's Diamond Islands ($4.99) action puzzle game in which players tilt and shove giant totem blocks around tropical islands to solve puzzles and collect diamonds. The game features 100 puzzles, up to 30 unlockable tips, and a variety of gameplay modes. A free version is also available.
