New iPhone Games: Mafia Wars, Glyder, Fast & Furious

The latest games to hit the iPhone include Zynga's Mafia Wars, which has over 20 million active monthly users on MySpace and Facebook, Glu Mobile's Glyder, and I-Play's Fast & Furious, which is based on the new movie of the same name.

Mafia Wars is a strategy game in which players start a crime family and build their own empire straight out of The Godfather films -- or The Sopranos TV series. The iPhone version features better graphics than the applications found on social networking sites. It's free, but Zynga says that premium versions priced at US$10 to $40 will be available soon.

In Glyder ($1.99), players take on the role of a hang glider pilot named Eryn, soaring through 3D environments, performing such maneuvers as power dives and dolphining, and collecting crystals to unlock five new lands as they search for a way home. Players can discover and master over 30 achievements as they uncover and complete more than 15 trips.

Fast & Furious ($5.99) follows the movie's story as players get behind the wheels of over 32 muscle, import tuner, and exotic cars while mastering seven racing modes: road race, drift race, drag race, GPS race, tunnel run, and pursuit and evade. Players can upload their fastest races to YouTube and challenge others to pink slip races over Wi-Fi -- the winner gets the loser's car.
