Deep Pocket Series LLC announced the release of Sad Scale 1.0 on Wednesday. This iPhone app is designed to screen for depression using the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The application has 3 screening tests, and it tracks scores and graphs the results. Sad Scale specifically screens for depression in the General Population, PostPartum Depression and Geriatric depression. The app makes use of the Zung depression test, Geriatric Depression scale and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale.
Users can email their results to their health care providers. The test can be taken multiple times and the user can track for depression. The app also takes users to different online resources for additional help.
This application is not designed to take the place of a health care provider. Dr. Castro, the creator of Sad Scale 1.0, states that his goal is to increase awareness of depression.
Sad Scale 1.0 for is available through the App Store for US$0.99.
