In-Depth Review

iSkin Duo nano

The folks at iSkin were among the first to think that if one silicone case was good, then two must be even better. Initially relesed for the iPod shuffle, the iSkin Duo recently made its way over to the iPod nano, complete with eigh different color combinations.

The dual silicone design delivers both improved shock protection and an appearance that's different from the monochrome competition. In fact, the iSkin Duo goes the extra mile in both departmets. A plastic screen protector sits between both pieces of silicone to protect your nano's display without directly rubbing against it, while the inner silicone skin covers the click wheel entirely. Should you desire, a plastic cap can be placed on top for even more protection and a smoother feel. iSkin is also one the few companies that integrates port covers into its silicone cases, so your dock connector and headphone port remain free of debris when not in use.

You would have no idea the nano inside is black

iSkin has also paid attention to the smaller design touches, like making the inner silicone glow in the dark, and including micro bumps to help you grip the case. The RevoClip2 belt clip is rugged and can rotate, or can easily be removed entirely leaving the back almost totally flush.

One of the finest belt clips available

The only perceivable flaw with the iSkin Duo lies in its screen protector, which is a touch small and distorts the edges depending on what angle you're looking at it.

If yesterday's review of iStyles' eight dollar case represents one end of the excellent, but minnimalist, spectrum of silicone cases, then iSkin's Duo sits at the opposite end. Thirty dollars is hardly inexpensive, but the Duo's pricing is in line with other premium cases and represent the finest we've encountered to date.
