Rumor: iPod touch, nano Getting Cameras
Monday, May 18th, 2009 at 10:02 AM - by Jeff Gamet
It's no secret that Apple will be updating its iPhone and iPod lineup at some point, but what features those new models will sport is always up for speculation. The latest fodder to come from the rumor mill has Apple narrowing the gap between the iPhone and iPod line by adding a digital camera to the iPod touch.
According to Hardmac, Apple plans to introduce new iPod touch and iPod nano models with built-in digital cameras in September. There aren't any details to help backup the rumor, but if Apple is planning on using the same camera components found in the iPhone, it would be fairly easy for the company to add in the extra parts it needs to current parts orders.
Adding a digital camera to the iPod touch or to the iPod nano, however, may not make sense for Apple. A digital camera would blur the line between the iPhone and iPod touch even more, and with the availability of Skype for the iPod touch, some buyers may start looking at the touch as an iPhone without monthly AT&T payments.
