A Thousand Germans Inquire About iPhone Each Day
Wednesday, July 11th, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro
Germanys biggest Apple retailer, Gravis, said that theyre getting a thousand inquiries every day about the iPhone. The Apple iPhone is expected to become available in Germany at the end of 2007, according to Reuters.
So far, 57,000 people have registered with Gravis, according to Archibald Horlitz who spoke to Germanys newspaper Tagesspiegel. Previously, it has been reported elsewhere that Apple would open their own retail stores in Germany, but that has apparently not happened as quickly as some had thought it might.
Mr. Horlitz said that nearly 58 percent of those interested in buying an iPhone would consider switching carriers if necessary. Vodafone and Deutsche telekom (T-Mobile) have been competing to be Apples partner in Germany, and now it has been reported that Deutsche Telekom has won that deal.
Apple has not divulged any details on how it plans to sell the iPhone in Europe.
