Apple Releases iPhone Update 1.0.1
Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
Apple released iPhone Update 1.0.1 Tuesday evening to address several security related issues on the combination iPod and smart phone. The update addresses potential flaws in Safari, Webkit, and WebCore.
In Safari, a flaw that could allow cross-site JavaScripts to read cookies and Web pages, or to modify Web pages, and heap buffer overflow condition that could lead to arbitrary code execution have been corrected.
An XMLHttpRequest issue in WebCore that could lead to cross-site scripting was addressed, and two WebKit flaws -- one that could trick users into visiting a malicious Web site by spoofing URL addresses, and a second that could lead to arbitrary code execution or Safari crashes -- were corrected.
iPhone Update 1.0.1 is available through the iTunes application. To find the update, do this:
- Launch iTunes.
- Connect your iPhone to your computer.
- Select your iPhone in the media list.
- Click the Summary tab.
- Click the Check for Update button.
Additional information about the update is available at the Apple Support Web site.
