Bebo Network Lands Deal with iTunes

The social networking site Bebo has inked a deal Apple to link back to the U.K. iTunes Store. Starting Wednesday, U.K and Ireland Bebo users will be able to purchase music from the iTunes Store directly from musician’s profile pages, according to the Financial Times.
Bebo is hoping that by making it easier to purchase the artist’s music, fewer people will resort to illegal music downloading. For Apple’s part, this marks the first time the company has struck a deal with a social networking site to help promote music sales.
Bebo has about 500,000 musicians signed up on its site, and has more signing up every day. Should the iTunes Store partnership prove successful, the program could expand to include the site’s 33 million users worldwide.
