"It’s a PHONE for God’s Sake!"
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
"Its a phone, for gods sake," said one TV reporter in reference to folks lining up for Apples iPhone 3G on the morning of July 11th, 2008. He was on hand to cover said line, and he made it clear to both the anchors back at the studio and the folks in line that he thought their decision to wait in line for nothing more than a phone was idiotic. Unfortunately for him, he chose to speak to someone in line unafraid to tell him he was a jackass, and better yet, it was a live broadcast.
"Come on," the reporter said to the anchors during the set up for the piece. "Come on, what is the...I mean honestly, what is the deal? Its a phone for gods sake, its a phone!"
After these observations, he approached an iPhone fan in line and asked if he preferred gadgets or humans. "Human beings," his interviewee replied.
Not content, he followed that up with, "Have you ever seen a woman naked?"
"What? This is kind of jackass, now," a response that was met with peels of laughter from the reporters own anchors. They then began asking if they had provided security for the reporter, mixing in some more laughter.
In the end, the interviewee tells the hapless reporter to move on, and go somewhere else, which again elicited laughter from the anchors, and what appears to be embarrassment on the reporters side. You can see the entire episode in the movie below.
