MobileMe Goes Live
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
Apples MobileMe came online Thursday morning following an overnight transition from .Mac, the service it replaces. MobileMe includes most of the features .Mac subscribers are familiar with, but is enhanced for better data sharing between computers, the iPhone and iPod touch.
.Mac subscribers can continue using their current user name and password to login to the MobileMe Web site where they can access email, contacts, and calendar information, view their online photos, and more.
MobileMe includes Web-based versions of iCal, Address Book and Mail, and can push information from those apps to or from an iPhone or iPod touch with the 2.0 Software Update.
Some users are experiencing slow MobileMe load times which may be a side effect of too many people accessing the service to try out the new features.
MobileMe is priced at US$99 a year, and current .Mac subscribers have been upgraded to the new service for free.
