Steve Jobs Named #1 Music Powergeek

The U.S. music magazine Blender named Steve Jobs on Tuesday as the king of online music and #1 on their Powergeek 25 list. The magazines list, according to a Reuters story, was compiled to showcase behind the scenes players who have shaped the way people listen to, buy, and watch music.

"Music fans spend much of their day, if not their life, sitting in front of their computer, discovering and downloading music," Blender’s editor-in-chief Craig Marks said. "Today’s power brokers no longer work in the steel-and-glass towers of the traditional record business; instead, they’re tech geeks, bedroom bloggers and Silicon Valley visionaries."

"The iTunes Store and the iPod have done more to change the way people listen to music than anything since the CD, and maybe since the sound recording," Mr. Marks said.

Other people who made the list were: #2 Tim Anderson and Chris DeWolfe, co-founders of MySpace and #3: Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, creators of YouTube.
