iPhone Unlock Bounty: $100,000

What’s a freely available software-based hack to unlock an iPhone from AT&T worth? Apparently US$100,000. If the offer at the FreeIphoneforMoney blog is legit, a group of anonymous backers is willing to pay out the cash to whichever company allows its iPhone unlock code to be distributed for free.
The phantom backers claim they will make the code freely available on the Internet with the owner’s approval and with credit given where credit is due, and they will give a domain to the company. The group wants to release the code at midnight on Wednesday.
The only contact information available is a Gmail email address which doesn’t do much to help the backers credibility. Unless someone steps forward with proof that the offer is real, this is one deal to take with a large grain of salt.
