Apple Drops iPod Battery Replacement Price

Apple has quietly dropped the price of its iPod battery replacement service to $59, plus $6.95 shipping. The company previously charged $99 for out-of-warranty battery replacement.
The market for iPod battery replacement services has become increasingly crowded. Last month, TechRestore started offering a lifetime iPod battery replacement service for $99.99. The company sells iPod batteries for self-installation for as little as $19.99.
Also last month, FastMac introduced new iPod batteries that boast up to 70 percent more capacity than the original iPod battery. Prices range from $29.95 to $39.95; they'll install them for a flat-rate of $49.95 (including battery).
