Disney Debuts Mix Sticks: Flash MP3 Players With Memory Card Slots
Wednesday, September 28th, 2005 at 3:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Disney on Thursday introduced Mix Sticks, MP3 players that come in pink and purple Forever Princess, chrome Disney and purple and green Tinker Bell (not available online yet) variations. They come with 128MB of storage but also offer slot for using Disney Mix Clips -- memory cards loaded with music from artists popular with the grade school age set -- as well as tracks copied to blank SD or MMC flash cards.
The US$49.99 Mix Sticks feature a 10-hour rechargeable battery, stereo earbuds, a USB 2.0 connector and a lanyard with a safety release. Disney expects to have them in stores by mid-October.
In addition to the four Mix Clips collections available on the ship date, Disney will also offer Mix Stuff, accessories for use with the Mix Stocks. A Disney Jam Stand ($39.99) features a battery charger, stereo speakers and lights that flash while the music plays. Other add-ons include a USB-capable wall charger, two different types of headphones and pink and gray carrying cases. Pricing for those items will be $9.99 to $14.99.
