Klipsch expanding iPod speaker line-up

Premium audio maker Klipsch will be releasing two new iPod-specific speaker systems later this year, complementing the company's iGroove ($199-$249, 4 stars).

The high-end RoomGroove will retail for $349 and features a clean design with a hidden dock that can be tucked away flush with the front of the unit when not in use. A hidden touch sensor in the Klipsch logo opens and closes the dock.

The low-profile design also supports wall-mounting out of the box with the included hardware and can accommodate other audio sources through the auxiliary input. Acoustics are handled by dual 2.5-inch high-output woofers in a ported enclosure, premium crossover networks, and dual MicroTractix Horn-loaded tweeters.

At the other end of the spectrum is the iGroove SXT, a $149 speaker system that delivers Klipsch performance at a more affordable price point. The iGroove SXT also employs dual 2.5-inch woofers in a ported enclosure, premium crossovers, and dual 1-inch MicroTractix Horn-loaded tweeters. Like the RoomGroove, the SXT can also be wall-mounted, but the hardware is sold separately; it also features an S-Video output.

Both the RoomGroove and iGroove SXT are scheduled to ship in April. Klipsch has yet to add the speakers to its Web site.
