Rumor: Best Buy, Radio Shack to Sell iPhone 3G
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
If the latest rumors hold true U.S. customers will be able to pick up a shiny new iPhone 3G at Best Buy and Radio Shack as well as Apple and AT&T stores. If so, Apples combination iPod and smartphone will be available in a significantly larger number of locations than previously thought.
The rumor was picked up by Boy Genius Report and claims that the information is unconfirmed. Since iPhone 3G will apparently require in-store activation, and both Best Buy and Radio Shack are equipped to sell AT&T phones and contracts, it does seem plausible that Apple would look to both companies to extend its market reach.
Considering, however, that the rumor is just that -- a rumor -- dont count on seeing the iPhone 3G on sale in locations outside of Apple and AT&T stores until an official announcement comes out.
