Vodafone Scores iPhone Deal in 10 Countries
Monday, May 5th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
The popular iPhone will be moving into ten more markets around the world in 2008 now that Vodafone has penned a deal with Apple. The cell carrier will be offering Apples combination iPod and smart phone in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey before the end of the year.
Vodafone is being clear on which countries it will offer iPhone service packages, but isnt offering many more details. So far, the company hasnt offered exact launch dates, iPhone pricing, or information on how much service packages will cost.
Vodafone made its announcement ahead of Apple, and it isnt the only cell carrier to make an announcement ahead of an official statement from Cupertino. Rogers made the same move in late April when it announced that it had partnered with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada before the end of the year.
Apples iPhone is already available in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany and Austria. The company plans to sell 10 million units by the end of 2008.
