iPhone: Better Snap Shot Control

Apple’s iPhone and iPhone 3G include a built-in camera that’s great for those quick and spontaneous snap shots. Sometimes, however, it’s hard to make sure you have just the right shot before tapping the camera application’s photo button, but iPhone Software 2.0 makes it easier to frame your picture before snapping a photo.
Instead of framing the shot and then tapping the photo button, press and hold the photo button, and then release it once you have your shot framed just the way you want. Your iPhone will take the picture once you release the button, and the picture preview will continue to update while you are framing your photo.

Releasing the photo button once I have my shot just the way I want it also helps prevent accidentally jiggling my iPhone while taking pictures -- a problem that often leaves me with blurry shots.
I found that this trick works reliably now that iPhone Software 2.0 is available, but it didn’t always work with earlier versions of the iPhone software. Of course, your milage may vary.
