iPhone Copy/Paste Mock Up Video
Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
An iPhone user has posted a mockup of how copy/paste might work on iPhone. One of the most-often mentioned missing features of the iPhone, copying and pasting text without a keyboard and mouse requires a new paradigm, and Vimeo member lonelysandwich has what he thinks is the solution. To demonstrate his idea, he mocked up a demo using some of Apples own iPhone how-to videos, and posted it to video sharing site Vimeo with a special "I love you" to close.
At the core of his idea is a two-fingered gesture on iPhones touchscreen that would bring up a copy paste menu only when the cursor is activated. That menu would allow the user to highlight text and copy it. Repeating the two-fingered gesture brings up the same menu with the ability to copy something new or paste in something already copied.
The video is labeled as a proof-of-concept, and is a fabricated example, as opposed to a hacked solution. Were curious about what our readers think of the need (or lack of need) of the feature, and this mocked up way to do it.
