- Spoon
Gimme Fiction by Spoon is a terrific album by an Austin band that I was lucky enough to catch on an Austin radio station during a Christmas visit.

Mike Patton may well be one of the hardest working men in showbiz these days, and his latest with Fantômas underscores just about how far out he is willing to travel.

- Prefuse 73
- It's an album about a breakup, done with beats instead of mopey lyrics. But the beats are raw, and the emotions are there, even if there aren't many words on top of it. While possibly not Scott Herren
- Goldfrapp
On their latest CD, Supernature, Goldfrapp has put together a successful mix of 1980-era New Romanticism, German cabaret, and T. Rex glam that leaves you riveted even through the album's lulls. It's a great amalgam that sounds current without sounding at all dated.

iPhone Dev Team Says PwnageTool 2.0 Coming Soon

The iPhone Dev Team has been working on a tool to unlock and jailbreak the iPhones and iPod touch. Its not quite ready to release, but a blog post on Thursday provided a taste of things to come.
"So weve been working hard on getting the release ready and during this process weve been fixing some final bugs, the actual base of PwnageTool application is working fine and working with all devices that we support....
"Weve been restoring our devices to various firmware revisions so that we can try to reproduce the conditions that most users will have. We are able to fully install any applications on any part of the current devices running 2.0 (and b103) and these versions are the iPhone 114, iPhone 2.0, iPhone 3G."
When released, the PwnageTool 2.0 will support:
- iPhone (1st Gen) with 2.0 - Activated, Unlocked & Jailbroken,(with support for third party applications).
- iPod Touch with 2.0 - Activated & Jailbroken,(with support for third party applications).
- iPhone (3G) with 2.0 - Activated, Jailbroken (with support for third party applications).
Unlocking the iPhone 3G has proved to be a challenge, and that will have to wait for a future version. "Weve made some progress on the baseband unlock of the 3G device, but at this point PwnageTool will not support 3G unlocking or BootNeuter on the 3G device. It is, of course supported on the first generation device with 2.0. Well push out an update with 3G support if and when it is completed," the blog concluded.
The release of the PwnageTool 2.0 was described as "soon."
