iPhone: Time’s Top Gadget of 2007
Tuesday, December 11th, 2007 at 3:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
Times Top Ten Gadgets of 2007 list is out, and Apples iPhone trumped every gadget that rolled off the assembly line this year. Considering it was also Times invention of the year, the combination iPod and smart phone was in a good position to take this list, too.

Time said "The iPhone changed the way we think about how mobile media devices should look, feel and perform. The design is exceptional inside and out: Its got a slick glass-and-stainless steel case and an elegant touch screen loaded with eye candy."
The only downside Time offered was that the iPhone is tied to AT&Ts cell network in the United States.
The iPhone was followed by the Nikon Coolpix S51c digital camera, Netgears SPH200W Wi-Fi Skype Phone, the Palm Centro, and the Sony Handycam HDR-CX7 in the top five. The rest of the top ten list included Samsungs P2 media player, the Toshiba Portégé R500-S5004 laptop, the FlyTech Dragonfly, Iomegas eGo Portable Hard Drive, and the Belkin N1 Vision Wi-Fi Router.
In November, Time named the iPhone the invention of the year. The handhelds blend of form and functionality coupled with its user friendly interface won it the title and also set a new standard for other cell phone makers to match.
