App Store Billion Downloads Contest Ends

Billion Download CounterApple has reached a billion downloads on its App Store, just nine months after launching the iPhone and iPod touch application download service. The company's Billion App Countdown contest is officially over, though the winner has not yet been announced.

The company has posted a note on the contest's promotional page at Apple.com, and the counter in iTunes now reads 1,000,000,000.

Stay tuned for information about the winner once Apple makes the announcement.
